To: U.S. Congress
This petition has the aim of amending a number of laws regarding Sex Offenders. We the undersigned would like to see the following situations rectified...
1.) Pleading to a lesser charge than the one the offender was arrested for. 2.) Obtaining parole for sex crimes
Here is an example of the sort of injustice allowed by the laws currently in place:
Convicted sex offender seeks parole after molesting a three year old girl.
Sex Offender: Robert Lincoln Marshall of Franklinton Louisiana Serving Time in: River Correctional Facility in Louisiana Arrested August 2003 for Aggravated Rape on a juvenile; faced the death penalty but pleaded to a lesser charge of sexual assault and received five years. He is now up for parole in August 2006 after only serving three years. To call this justice is not so much optimistic as just plain absurd. It is wrong and it has got to stop!
We don’t understand why these sex offenders can hurt our children this way, then proceed to spend just a few years in jail because they take a plea . They should not be allowed to plead to a charge lighter than that they were charged with, because let's face it, the children they raped or molested still pay the same high price - no light sentence for them. No, they have to deal with what happened to them for the rest of their lives, those that were not actually killed. We need to stand together and say enough is enough. Indeed, who is the legislation trying to protect, the children or the molesters?
This is being put forward by all people who are against child abuse. We as a whole do not accept nor condone abuse of any sort, and aim to see in some much needed changes in and out of the court systems. If you as I believe wish to see some much needed changes then we need your signature. Please join our families, for together we will make the difference the lives of others. This will extend to our children and to generations yet to come. Let's all make perfectly clear that abuse will not be tolerated. The reward will be a much safer tomorrow, a better world for our young people. We Thank You In advance for your signature.
Sincerely,

Hi Jennifer,
I am new to your forum. I feel very strongly about this issue too. I am so tired of hear about a child kid napped and sexually abuse and killed. And the pedophile released because of the rights of the pedophile were not read to him. I feel if you take away another human beings rights( innocent children) , than you don't deserve any rights yourself.
I have written the President, both my semators, and my state representator, signed your petition. What else can I do to help? I wish more people were as passionate about this issue as you are!!!!
Can only members of this forum sign the pititions or is there a way to email everyone in my email address your petition? I think you can get the signatures you need if everyone here would email everyone in there email address.
Thanks for creating this forum. I am sure you are making a difference!!!!! Teresa

Thank you for all the work you have done, time's a wasting, I am signing your petition while carrying on my local personal endeavors and inquiries, holding people and agencies accountable and being a pain in the butt. The local papers and TV will carry the torch, they covered my pervert neighbor last year, now he's out on early parole. Damn. Got me fired up.

P.S. Re: language of Petition, in many cases the SO will possibly NOT be convicted or if he/she is, sentence would be equal to that plead prior to trial. This was true in one local case that I am researching. There are flaws in the laws, and prosecutors are very frustrated, their hands are so tied by state laws. Sentencing guidelines need to be completely revised, as well as those for parole and subsequent tracking. I'm learning as I go, I encourage all of you to investigate your state's laws, call the state AG's office, local DA's, law enforcement, parole officers, and last but not least, legislators, both state and federal. Their info is in phone books and online, everywhere, we have NO excuse for not taking some action and it will all have a wonderful ripple effect to get laws passed and changed.

My name is Tracy, and I'm one of the owners of UAADV, United Angels Against Domestic Violence, and I would love to get the chance to talk to you and see if there is any way we could help spread the word of not only your plite, but that of many others out there. We are in the same fight, although coming from a different angle. I tried to e-mail you off of your homepage, but it isn't working, so I figured I'd post! lol I got your e-mail through Barbie, which I'm very thankful for and plan on putting it on my site. I'm working on that right now in fact. E-mail me when you get the chance. I too believe that together we can make a difference. Angel Hugs! uaadv.org/index.html

Thank you for joining, please take a few minutes and introduce yourself to the members under meet and greet.
i will do anything I can to help you with your journey as I am a survivor of domestic abuse. My main focus right now is having the laws changed concerning sex offenders because my kids were molested and the man only recieved 5 years and he is up for parole after only serving 3. I am grateful he at least had to serve jail time.
But in my research and along the way I will do what I can to assit you. Please let me know what it is you need from me. If you would like I can start a section on here concerning physical abuse. I can make you the moderator of it so it can be adjusted as you like. Please let me know if that is something you are interested in.
Again thank you for joining. And I hope to get the chance to read alot more post from you.

Hi Jenn, I wanted to let people know what my wonderful state of Georgia is doing to help! I ended up on www.bacausa.com. This website represents bikers from all over (well, almost) the United States. I was impressed with their forceful words on their website to potential child molestors and that they would/could use force IF necessary. I wanted to get involved...there is no chapter for Georgia. So, I e-mailed the top Chapter biker dude and this organization was shut down in Georgia due to "politics and the system". I say that's BULLSH*T! We have 8 year olds controlling our neighborhoods with guns, dealing drugs, and do they not think sexual abuse in somewhere too?? I have pleaded with the top guy that says "yea" or "nay" on re-opening the Georgia Chapter..... What else can be done if a "nay" comes back??? Sincerely, TanFanny PS I just joined a minute ago and I hope my voice is heard in the proper direction. I didn't have a voice when I was little, but I'll find a little one, or several little ones, to voice for!!
