September 18, 2006 [glow=red,2,300] The National Federation of Republican Women is hoping every state will remember Jessica Lunsford.[/glow] In 2005, 9-year-old Jessica was kidnapped, sexually assaulted and murdered by a registered sex offender in Florida. Since then, 24 states have passed what have become known as "Jessica's Law," which toughened penalties for sex offenders through mandatory minimum sentencing, lifetime supervision and electronic monitoring, increased reporting and registration requirements, and other measures. Greeley resident Carol Meny joined more than 150 Republican women from across the country in Indianapolis Sept. 8 and 9 for the women's federation's annual conference, in which members agreed to work on passing Jessica's Law or equivalent legislation in other states. www.greeleytrib.com/article/20060918/NEWS/109180107/-1/rss02
