[glow=red,2,300] Don't Let Congress Turn Its Back on Veterans[/glow] Since the "war on terror" began, over 1 million military service people have been called into duty. More than 2,600 of these men and women have been killed and over 20,000 have been injured during their service. Yet, despite these great sacrifices, Congress recently tried to slash the budget for the VA's traumatic brain injury care centers that many of our wounded troops are counting on. Our veterans shouldn't have to fight for the high quality healthcare they've earned. This Veterans Day, call on Congress to fully fund healthcare and benefits for troops and veterans. The Department of Veteran's Affairs (VA) reports a record high backlog of over 800,000 benefits claims from veterans. This means hundreds of thousands of veterans and their families are still waiting for the healthcare and benefits they need to survive. This Veterans Day, the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States (VFW) is asking Congress to keep its promise to our service people by fully funding veterans healthcare and benefits. Sign the Healthcare for Our Heroes petition to help the VFW meet its goal of delivering 20,000 signatures to Congress by November 11th. These brave men and women are giving their lives to protect our country; now our leaders need to live up to their end of the bargain. Please honor the men and women who serve our country by calling on Congress to fully fund veteran's healthcare and benefits.
